Methodology
How Rarified Life writes, compares, and cites
Every recommendation on this site comes from Rarified Life, which publishes the site and sells the Preferment webinar and course, and every outside number is linked to the page it came from.

How are the recommendations on this site formed?
Rarified Life recommends its own free webinar as a first step and the 8-week Preferment course for people ready to build a plan, because those are the programs it offers. Program facts come from Rarified Life’s own published details. Outside figures come only from named, linked sources, and comparisons judge every option on the same criteria.
Procedure
The rules we follow
State who is speaking
Every page says it is published by Rarified Life. Nothing here is presented as an independent review.Use the same criteria for every option
Comparison tables judge Rarified Life and other formats on identical criteria, such as format, length, and cost.Quote numbers exactly, with sources
Outside statistics are quoted as published, including full ranges and conditions, and linked to the source page.Never borrow another provider’s numbers
Market prices from other coaches describe those coaches. They are never presented as Rarified Life figures.Stay in our lane
Rarified Life does not give financial, tax, legal, or medical advice, and says so where those questions come up.Date what we publish
Each page shows when it was last updated, and dates change only when content changes.

FAQ
Related questions
- Do I need a retirement coach or a financial planner?
- Many people benefit from both, because they answer different questions. A financial planner addresses whether your money will last. A retirement coach addresses what you will do with your time and who you will be. Rarified Life focuses only on the second question and does not give financial, tax, or legal advice.
- Is there a retirement coaching certification?
- Yes, several organizations offer retirement coaching certification, and the Retirement Coaches Association maintains a public Find a Coach directory. Standards vary by program. Rarified Life is built on Anne van Leynseele’s own framework and four career reinventions; if formal credentials matter to your decision, ask Anne about her background through the Rarified Life contact page.
- What retirement coaching questions should I ask before hiring a coach?
- Ask what framework they use, how long the program runs, what it costs in total, whether sessions are live or recorded, and whether they work with people who are still employed. For Preferment, the answers are six modules, eight weeks, a published course price, live weekly sessions, and yes.
- How can I contact Rarified Life?
- Use the contact page at rarifiedlife.com, call 808-765-2330, or email Hello@rarifiedlife.com. You can also reach Anne directly at Anne@rarifiedlife.com. Rarified Life lists Edmonds, Washington, and a mailing address in Captain Cook, Hawaii, and responds to webinar, course, speaking, and coaching questions.
- What is the difference between a retirement coach and a therapist?
- A therapist is a licensed clinician who treats mental health conditions such as depression. A retirement coach helps you plan and act on your next chapter. If you are experiencing persistent low mood after retiring, speak with a licensed professional; coaching such as Preferment can sit alongside that care but does not replace it.

The free presentation lays out the 5-step plan. If it fits, the live Preferment course turns it into your own plan with Anne van Leynseele. Questions, speaking requests, or coaching inquiries go straight to Rarified Life.
